On the Glossary you can get familiar with the terms used throughout the BladeInsight platform.
Workorder: Collection of blade surveys, to be, in process or done in a windpark - it starts when planning the work to be done and ends when all blades present in the workorder are surveyed or canceled.
Survey: Act of collecting data, in the form of photographic data or metadata, of a wind turbine blade.
Inspection / Engineering review: Process of analyzing the data collected from an asset to generate a report.
Inspector: Entity responsible for analyzing the data collected during the survey, including marking POIs and making observations.
Point of interest (POI): A collection of markings on blade with a specific classification for each workorder where it is present.
Marking: A visual representation of a POI in a workorder.
Damage Typification Profile (DTP): Typification used to POIs, composed of severity, recommendation, type and sometimes responsibility.
Recommended action: Action recommended by blade experts following inspection findings.
Report: Deliverable handed to the end-user, consisting of a technical analysis to the condition of the blades of a turbine conducted by an inspector.
Gallery: Visualization of raw data per each turbine.
Windfarm / Windpark: A geographically logical collection of turbines.
Turbine: Asset composed by a tower, 3 blades, a nacelle and a hub.
Blade: A blade consists of 4 sides and it’s where the survey is performed.
Blade side: Each blade is partitioned in 4 sides (Suction Side, Pressure Side, Leading Edge, and Trailing Edge) and they represent a longitudinal cut in the blade.
Suction Side (SS): The section of the blade that offers a longer distance over which the air must travel creating a faster flow and thus lift over the surface area.
Pressure Side (PS): Opposite to the SS, it offers a shorter distance for the air to travel thus maintaining a lower speed and higher pressure.
Leading Edge (LE): The section of the blade which leads the rotation and separates the air.
Trailing Edge (TE): Opposite the LE, this is the section of the blade where the two airflows from the SS and PS meet.
